1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files or similar storage technologies placed on a browser or device when you use a website. They can help a site remember a session, keep a basket working, protect forms and accounts, remember preferences or measure how pages are used.
Cookies can be set by Eclipse Merchandise or by a service used on the website. Some last only for the browsing session, while others remain for a defined period so a preference or recognised browser can be remembered.
2. Strictly necessary cookies
Some cookies are needed for the website to work or to provide a service you have requested. On a WordPress and WooCommerce website these can include session, security, account, basket and checkout cookies. For example, WooCommerce can use cookies to remember basket contents and maintain a customer session.
Where a cookie is strictly necessary for the service you requested, consent may not be required, but we still aim to explain its purpose. These technologies are used to support the requested website function rather than optional advertising or audience measurement. Blocking them in your browser can prevent parts of the website from working correctly.
3. Functional cookies
Functional technologies may remember choices that improve the site experience, such as interface preferences. If a functional technology is not strictly necessary, it should only be enabled where the required consent has been obtained.
They can, for example, help remember a display choice or another preference between visits. Unlike a strictly necessary cookie, a functional cookie is not normally essential to the core service requested by the visitor.
4. Analytics and performance
Analytics technologies can help us understand which pages are used, how visitors move through the website and where performance can be improved. Where these technologies are not strictly necessary, they should remain disabled until the visitor has made the relevant choice.
The information available to an analytics service can vary, but may include page views, browser or device information, traffic sources and interactions with the website. Where consent is required, these tools should only start after that consent has been recorded.
5. Marketing and third-party technologies
Marketing, advertising, embedded media or social platforms can set their own cookies or similar identifiers. These can be used to measure campaigns or build an understanding of activity across websites. Where consent is required, these technologies should not be activated before that consent is given.
Third-party services can operate under their own privacy and cookie terms. If Eclipse Merchandise introduces, removes or changes an optional service, the website's consent controls and this Cookie Policy should be reviewed so the information remains consistent with the technology in use.
6. How to control cookies
When the website presents a cookie-preferences or consent panel, you can use it to make or change choices about optional technologies. You can also delete or block cookies through your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies can affect functions such as the basket, checkout, login or account area.
If you change or withdraw a cookie choice, the latest preference should apply to future use of optional technologies on that browser or device. A change cannot usually undo information that was lawfully processed before the preference was updated.
Cookie choices normally apply to the browser and device on which they were made. Clearing browser storage, using private browsing or moving to another device can mean that the website needs to ask for your preferences again.
7. Cookie Policy updates and questions
Cookie names, providers and retention periods can change as WordPress, WooCommerce and connected services are updated. We review this policy when the website's technologies or consent controls materially change. The date at the top of this page identifies the current published version.
If you have a question about cookies, consent choices or privacy, use our contact page or read the Privacy Policy for more information about how personal data is handled.
